Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher.
~ Japanese Proverb
There’s a lot of buzz around STEM right now, and you may be wondering what all the fuss is about. It’s true that technology and engineering jobs are on the rise, but does every student really need to learn STEM skills?
As it turns out, STEM education is uniquely suited to prepare students for success. A robust STEM education that integrates entrepreneurship is becoming increasingly more important to our economy.
Employment in STEM occupations is projected to grow 8.8% by 2028, and healthcare occupations, which generally require a strong STEM background, are projected to grow even more. Meanwhile, non-STEM occupations will only grow 5%. What’s more, jobs that require a STEM background are more likely to provide solid wages. STEM workers earned an average of $95,420 in 2021, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, while non-STEM occupations earned a median annual wage of only $40,120.
Epic Edventures STEEM Academy offers an integrated curriculum of AP and dual-credit courses that have been recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE), including Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, Physics, and Small Business & Entrepreneurship. The ACE has determined that these credit-recommended courses meet the standards of college-level coursework at post-secondary institutions.
Upon completion of any our courses, you will receive an official certificate of completion and/or transcript from our school. You can also request a transcript for them from ACE that you can submit to your institution as transferable credit.
Our virtual classrooms are limited to a minimum of 8 students and a maximum of 10 students each. Since our format of teaching is heavily based on gameschooling and role playing using the Classcraft game-based learning platform, students in each classroom will be divided into two teams of 4 or 5 students which are balanced for certain distinct avatar skills and abilities. These teams can be assigned to virtual breakout rooms during collaborative projects. Each teacher will have a maximum of 8 classes, or 80 students, per semester.
This smaller, more personalized classroom environment affords the teacher the opportunity to become better acquainted with each individual student, putting them in a position to attest to your homeschooler’s willingness to work hard and their ability to work with other people, their time management and organization skills, and their talents and resourcefulness — all information colleges look for in a recommendation letter.
We provide our students with the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership and ability to be a part of a team through a variety of extracurricular activities, such as a student body, study organizations, STEEM related clubs, and a student newsletter. We provide individualized letters of recommendation that showcase the student's participation and success in these activities.
Through our suite of free services, our academy is able to leverage the industry network and connections of our talented faculty of "teacherpreneurs" to help our homeschoolers level up their applications for highly competitive STEM and entrepreneurship summer camps, internships, research and shadowing opportunities.
